Ruth Gurry, opened her Sensationails by Ruth in 1990, a tiny salon specializing in all aspects of nail care. At the same time, she started her school, Vt. Institute of Nail Technology (VINT). It was the first licensed nail school for nail technicians in the state. At an age when most women are dreaming of grandchildren and retirement, Ruth decided on a new career.
In May 1992, Ruth entered her first nail competition. She entered the contest hoping to learn from the experience. Coming away with a 2nd place trophy was the last thing on her mind. Only two years doing nails, she competed against people that had 20 years of experience.
Within a few years, December 1993 she opened Manchester's first Day Spa. She continued to do manicures, pedicures and her school VINT, increasing her knowledge in the beauty industry.
Over the years she has been featured in, Dermascope, Nailpro, Salon Today and Nails Magazine.
In 1996, she won recognition as being the best salon with 1-3 Nail Technicians, honored by Nails Magazine. Again, in 1997 she won 1st runner up for her salon with 1-4 Nail Technicians by Nails Magazine.
In 1997 she was featured in Salon Today Magazine as being one of the top 200 Salons in the country.
Her bridal business was growing. Bridal parties for hair, skin, nails where gaining in popularity. After 13 years, Ruth sells her Day Spa. Time to retire? Well, she tried that for a while.
It was time to re-open her Sensationails by Ruth the salon she first started. Busy with clients, some of which have been with her since 1990.
Wedding day, pedicures and manicures are very special to her. Bridal parties have trusted her to make their day of days truly memorable for over 20 years.
